Don’t know what any of you conclude about this incident, but I have some thoughts and views on this whole issue.
First, right up front, the president of this country was not there, has no “eye witness” input and displays an over sensitivity to “racial profiling”.
Do blacks in this country have a justified reason to anticipate and be suspicious of “racial profiling”? Absolutely! Is there a nation wide problem with this issue? Absolutely!
The President says he knows Mr. Gates and can attest to the fact that he is a gracious and mild natured man. I don’t know, but I suspect their relationship has been based on Academic and/or Political gatherings and/or meetings that excluded any confrontational situations like the one at Mr. Gates home. Everyone at Academic/political/business meetings and social gatherings display gracious and professional behavior. That’s where people with power/wealth/fame suck up to and/or impress/position with others who possess power/wealth/fame.
I think you get my point.
Has Henry observed a heated argument between Barack and someone else?
We
all have sensitivities and buttons that get pushed!
EVERYONE (including the Pope) has a sensitive spot! There are NO “Mortal Saints”
A lot of Whites are sensitive to the fact that they may look like they are
“racial profiling” when they truly have no intent and a lot of
whites are insensitive and continue to commit “racial profiling”.
A lot of Blacks are still victims of “racial profiling” and a
lot of Blacks seek opportunities to declare it.
“Racial
Profiling” has manifested “Racial Righteousness”
My view is that a Police Officer, following proper procedure for the
situation, pushed a button for Racial Righteousness.
Under the First Amendment, the President and I and everyone else in the USA
has the right to “speculate”. In our legal system, “speculation” can never be used
implicitly or explicitly as “truth” or “guilt”.
I wasn't there either. simply an observation ...............................
